The young Catholic Students of Nigeria (YCSN), one of the Church’s youth groups under the umbrella of the Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON), will from August 30 to September 11, host their counterparts from all over the world for the 2019 16th International YCS World Council. The theme for the meeting is: Taking Action for Peace, Here and Now. The programme which will be held at the Daughters of Divine Love Retreat and Conference Centre (DRACC), Lugbe, Abuja will begin with an opening Mass/ceremony at the St. Gabriel’s Chaplaincy, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Durumi, Abuja.

According to the programme released by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC); the programme which will include a training session is to be attended by participants from all parts of the world, with discussions focused on tropical issues and strategic actions put in place. The committee disclosed that “The event aims to achieve individual and global peace through the young people; and reflect on the five key pillars for action as identified in the United Nation’s Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR 2250) with focus on youth creativity, youth mobility, youth mental health and Pastoral accompaniment, youth participation and Advocacy.

According to the spokesman of the association, all hands are on deck to ensure that the gathering is very successful with participants from the different parts of the world returning to their country with memorable remembrances of their stay and the hospitality of the Nigerian people.
