Dedication and commitment to work have been described as a legacy and virtues that help any person to leave indelible marks on the sands of time, particularly in places where one has worked.

This assertion was made by the Secretary General of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), Rev. Fr. Ralph Madu, during his homily at the send-forth Thanksgiving Mass to mark the disengagement of Rev. Sr. Ann Olayemi  Falola OLA, from the services of CSN.

Sr. Ann Falola, during her  two-term tenure of six years as the Secretary of the CBCN Episcopal Committee on Mission, at the Catholic Secretariat, endeared herself to many by her cordiality and commitment to work; which has made the mission unit of CSN more vibrant in service delivery.

Speaking on the over six years tenure of Sr. Falola as the Secretary of the Bishops Conference Mission committee. Fr. Madu noted that she has a sense of duty and “the essence of our gathering here today is thank her and appreciate her for her dedication and commitment to work.”

He described Sr. Falola as an embodiment of the two qualities noted above adding that these have endeared her to workers at CSN and others who have come in contact with in the course of her duties, in the service of the Bishops Conference and the Nigerian church.

The Secretary General commended Sr. Falola for making the Mission unit of CSN more vibrant in service delivery through her many innovations which have turned the unit round for the better. He noted that Sr Falola is a very hard working person and “we are praying to get a successor who will work like her.” Fr Madu continued: “I remember how the whole unit was before Sr. came and turned it round … I hope that whoever is coming; if the person’s leg can’t fit into your shoes; at least you should leave the shoe that will fit the person’s leg.”

Fr. Madu thanked the outgoing Mission unit Secretary on behalf of the Bishops conference, the Administrative board, management and staff of CSN and of course all the Catholic community in Nigeria for the services you rendered here.”

Encomiums were showered on Sr. Ann Falola by many members of the CSN CCFN and PMS, at a reception organized in honour of the outgoing Mission Unit Secretary; who was urged to be prepared for collaboration with the Bishops Conference offices in her new apostolate at the wish of her congregation.

Responding, Sr. Ann Falola expressed gratitude to the Secretary General, management and staff of the CSN and other CBCN agencies, for their cooperation and support in making  her work at CSN successfully momentous. She appealed  for understanding on the part of those  she had stepped on their toes in the course of the discharge of her duties noting that there were no ill feelings on such occasions.
